Are you sure? Nothing in the artist’s source link implies it is AJ, and the kid is slightly colored differently and lacks the trademark freckles.
You do realize that “colt” is a filly. A much younger Applejack, to be precise.
She’s only giving him kindness because he’s in a bad shape!

It’s hard to know what’s intended for Granny Smith. The line placing her at the founding of Ponyville and the line making Ponyville so old came far apart in episodes that make no reference to each other. They might not have intended to imply that she’s centuries old.
But, she might be!
Maybe ponies just age very slowly, and end up living longer than dragons.

I wish we knew more about how aging works in Equestria. Some have speculated that Granny Smith is around 200 years old and we know that Celestia is over 1000.
