For some reason I think you’d enjoy Dinosaur Comics.
Thankfully, unlike Cozy Glow here, by the time I was actually twelve, I realized that wasn’t how it worked.
I think Tirek does have room to speak. He wanted to control every natural function of the world. Cozy Glow tried to wrest that control away from everyone and everything, including herself, and expected the lifeless husk of a world to be worth ruling.
But he was clearly roaring and straining like mad, he didn’t seem able to do anything until his transformation was complete. And if he wasn’t pursuing them later its sure quite a coincidence that his rampage was heaidng right toward where the Mane Six fled.

That last part is conjecture. He burned down trees for the hell of it, but there’s nothing implying he was looking for Twilight. There was ample time to squash them right after he got her magic. They were out in the open. But he didn’t.
I think that is Plan B.
A Xanatos Gambit.
Even when she loses, she wins.
Except the deal was to let her friends go first, it was only then that Twilight allowed him to take her magic. And once he got her magic he was indisposed, screaming and reveling from the power as it altered his body. Once he got control of himself again he immediately went looking for the Twilight to get rid of her.
And he had absolutely no idea that the Elements were a thing at all, and had no way of accounting for that.
He certainly deserves credit in my opinion for his reaction to seeing the Mane Six floating in the air with Rainbow Power being to immediately try to kill them with a full-power blast.

Tirek made one huge mistake: He kept his word. After Twilight gave him all that sweet Alicorn magic, he should’ve just laughed into her face and put her in a bubble next to her friends. It’s his own fault that he lost.
She wasn’t planing to win, I thank she wanted to get put in Tartarus so she could help her pen pal escape.
Sombra was intelligent to the point that he almost won without even being there with his traps alone, and he got very close to victory because he didn’t waste time taking action.
I’d say that Tirek, Sombra, and Cozy Glow are the most pragmatic villains, and the least likely to fuck up because of their pride, like Discord and especially Chrysalis did, not to say those two are idiots by any means.
To be fair he would have done much more if he wasn´t killed before he got the chance to do so.

It’d be a race to see which one could backstab the other first.
She honestly came closer to victory than a lot of villains who were much more powerful. I mean, Sombra was a giant cloud of evil and all he did was mess up the weather in one town and then die.

Okay, that I could get behind.
She would absolutely stab him in the back the second he stopped being useful, but I see what you’re saying.
