Stygian states they know all the powerful unicorn wizards. This validates my theory that unicorns supposedly greater ability over the other races are counterbalanced by the rarity of such. There’s only four at present day, Twilight (formerly), Starlight, Sunset, and Trixie who’s apparently low enough to be added as an afterthought.

Starlight has already been the focus of several comics, and Sunset is an EqG character and irrelevant to FiM (even in the comics). That’s really why they didn’t use either here.

That said it would be interesting to have post-redemption Sunsets and Starlights in the casino when there’s pre-redemption versions there as well.

I think simply involving ‘second mirror’ is kind of a weak excuse, what harm does that do? A better reason they couldn’t go for Sunset is there is no way to even access that mirror without Twilight knowing (since it’s in her castle and only she knows how to work the machine), which would mean after Twilight finds out what is going on word will quickly get back up to Celestia too.

That… was not the issue. The issue was not that they couldn’t get past the meter, but rather that Sunset living full-time in Humanland could cause dimensional problems “the last thing we need to do is add a second mirror to this problem”, and the problem with Starlight was that she’d leak all of this to Twilight.
