Yeah, I’m not really a gamer, but damn, that was a disaster.

I forgot to mention that in my original post, the hype surrounding a possible announcement trailer-if nothing else-for Diablo 4. And instead…yeeeeeaah… :I
It was tone-deaf of Blizzard to say the least. Bethesda got away with Fallout: Shelter because it was just an appetiser to the announcement of Fallout 4, what everyone went there to see. Blizzard should have learnt from that, and I do think there would be far less of a shitstorm if they at least announced a Diablo 4 as the main event there.

And to add some additional points on it, I am a Diablo player on the PC. I feel like we’ve already been left in the dark the past few years, and the trend is continuing. I’d like a new expansion for Diablo 3, some news about Diablo 4 (which apparently is happening), anything.

While I have a smart phone, I don’t like mobile games. I need to conserve my battery for other things. I rarely play mobile games.

I’ve played Diablo: Immortal at BlizzCon and it’s alright, pretty intuitive controls (like much of Diablo) but I’d much prefer something on the PC. I still feel in the dark, and I’m still disappointed. I just wanted a bit of news about the future of Diablo, instead of nothing.

Well, if you figure out how to solve it, let me know. You’d be a smarter pony then I.
All I can do is point out that it’s happening, and help other ponies avoid falling into the trap. Just remember, when anypony calls you any such name, the real goal is to delegitimise your complaint by publicly calling you an evil person. That’s the real game they’re playing, remember that one and you’ll be able to skirt around it.

Ooooh…I’m sorry that has happened to you…If only there’s a stronger way to send the message to address the situation of Blizzard’s community who is selfishly avoiding criticism from other users and creating microaggressions for no reason and how to fix it. Gee, and I thought the League of Legends community was bad enough but this is a BIG friendship problem that must be solved.

No-one should do this to their fans, but sadly it’s becoming commonplace in a market where companies believe the consumers are idiot children in need of ‘education’, rather then their clients and the reason they get to put food on the table that they’re supposed to provide escapist entertainment for.

Of course it’s preposterous, it always is. The amount of people in our countries who actually are any of these things are phenomenally small, less then a decimal of a percentage of the population. As I said, it’s a cowardly and slanderous tactic to avoid ideas/criticisms of your work/ideas/statements by calling the other person evil and saying they have bad intentions.

They do, but…well you tell them that. I tried, was called misogynist for my troubled and asked why I hated women.
Because again, that’s easier then actually addressing criticism.
And it lets them get high off the smell of their own farts with an unearned sense of moral superiority and unwarranted self importance. |:(

@FeatherTrap
I see. Blizzard shouldn’t do this to it’s fans. They need to learn to listen to their user feedback instead of doing nonsense such as this. That’s how a true company should work

Also, game journalists who say gamers who do not like the game are sexist? That’s preposterous! Everyone has their own likes and dislikes and they shouldn’t be treated badly.

The company needs to get it’s act together such as going quality over quantity or else the karma will lash right back at them like a boomerang.

At Blizzcon 2018, the Diablo Team announced a new game “Diablo: Immortal”, a Diablo game exclusive to mobile phones.
Excluding all the crap and connotations that come with that alone, they sourced it out to a Chinese developer named NetEase, responsible for similar titles like Crusaders of Light and Endless of God, which are already considered Diablo Ripoffs.

That latter one is especially relevant, considering how if you put gameplay from Endless of God side by side from gameplay of Diablo Immortal, it really does look like they just took EoG and gave it a Diablo texture pack.

Naturally, the fans complained about this, and Blizzard’s response has been…subpar at best.
They started off by dismissing the complaints about it being exclusive to mobile phones with a dismissive attitude of “Do none of you own phones?”, as though everyone who was complaining where just dirty peasants that couldn’t afford a real phone on which to play their new video game.

If you look at the trailers on YouTube, the like to dislike ratio is really bad, worse then even the backlash to Battlefield V. But that depends on when you look at it, as people have noticed the like/dislike ratio is fluctuating wildly. The reason for this is that Blizzard keeps unlisting the videos and re-uploading them in an attempt to hide the backlash. But even if Youtube forgets, SocialBlade does not, and there one can easily piece it together.
This is on top of the deleting of comments, which is always despised.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, the usual suspects in the game “journalism” sphere have been writing articles insiting that anyone who doesn’t like the game is sexist, on the grounds that most mobile gamers are women (correct, the one area of gaming in which women are a clear and overwhelming majority), and claiming that as a result the fans are playing ‘gatekeeper’ trying to keep their games away from the wamyns (false, see the Command and Conquer: Rivals case study for the real reason people hate it.)
No-one likes to be told they have ill-intentions, especially where none exist. It should be obvious to everyone by now that when someone hears a compliant and responds to it by saying “that person is sexist/racist/homophobic/trans-phobic/islamphobic/anti-science/a Nazi” or whatever your favourite buzzword/insult is, that person is basically saying “I think they are a bad person, therefore I don’t have to listen to them, and neither should you”. It is a cowardly way to avoid discussing issues, hence why the tactic is rightfully called out on social media. Combined with the fact that such statements are untrue for the overwhelming majority of people (at least in Western countries) this amounts to the ‘critics’ calling Blizzard fans horrible people because they didn’t like a shallow husk of their favourite game which probably isn’t even their game at all but the reskin of a knock off of their game stuffed to the brim with all the shit mobile games tend to be filled with and the fact that mobile phone games tend to eat through battery life like it’s going out of style…and to the surprise of absolutely no-one with even half a working brain, this made Diablo fans very angry.

All in all, the shitstorm created from it has blown up to epic proportions in the last few days. Honestly I’m not surprised it’s come to this, as Blizzard has been increasingly contemptuous of their fanbase. This is just the most obvious and public example of it.

I mean it, there’s maybe 2 or 3 totems left if you count talent totems, hell even fire and earth elementals aren’t totems anymore. Oh and remember that cool cobra fire totem you could glyph? That totem is gone too, no more fireball totem for elementalists.

Because they made their big show stopper for Blizzcon (the thing that their fans paid good money and travelled there to see) as well as the reveal they had been teasing about Diablo for like a year, a smartphone game that looks like a reskin of one of the many, many diablo ripoffs that already exist on the mobile market.
And again, at Blizzcon, where their hardcore audience of mainly PC gamers were gathered and expecting something big. And for some reason, Activision-Blizzard did not expect those people to not be enthused about their Free2Play Microtransaction Riddled Phone Game that would not be available on PC and did the worst damage control I’ve seen in a long time.

And don’t forget, “Do none of you own phones?”
