Description
I was planning to make a quick wallpaper for my laptop, so that’s why I choose Luna since it made more sense to put her in a dark night environment and the blue color scheme will not be as distracting compared with other colors. As you might have noticed, the composition is kinda heavy on the right since most of my stuff in my desktop are mostly on the left, so it was done on purpose to balance things out.
I also tried out the water reflections but unfortunately it will come out as a smudged abomination if you choose to export the project as a poster, so what I did instead was to export the project as image sequence, that way reflections were visible alongside with the bloom but the resolution is only limited to 4K (GabeN why). Also keep in mind that the reflections aren’t perfect due to the limitations of the Source engine.
Inspired heavily by this song.
Made with Source Filmmaker, rendered at 4K resolution with 1024 DOF samples
Detailed with Adobe Photoshop CC 2015
Color Enhanced with Adobe Lightroom CC 2015

Valve has a bad history with people taking their stuff. Half-life has this big leak where someone released it’s code, and all of a sudden half-life clones appeared. (the dude was arrested, of course.)
A lot of Valve’s recent issues with releasing just about anything comes from their corporate structure.
Agreed on that. There are way so many features in SFM that they kept it hidden for some reason (probably so that we couldn’t make something better than theirs). Source engine is old, and apparently Valve is just too lazy now to release anything other than a stupid card game. 9 years in development my ass lol
The Source Engine has dumbass limits that are either hacked (circumvented in a hacky way) or cleverly hidden. Also it has disgusting lighting and support for models… i’m not just saying it, I’m actually a game dev who worked with Source for years and switched to UE4 as soon as 4.0 was released.
Thanks for the advice! I was planning to make some pieces on Blender, but I have to learn more about the software before doing so. For now, I want to see how far I could push SFM to make this kind of stuff ;)

Glad you liked it, and also thanks for the compliment!
