Unless his whole childhood was that of neglect, why would he care at this point?
He thought that he found his father and was overjoyed so I cannot blame him too much.
So, in other words, a Spike episode. I swear that they have no idea how to use the kid. I was especially disappointed that he “turned to the dark side” so easily. And, of course, Spike had to wrong so Twilight could be right.
It’s not filler. The show is largely slice of life.
But depending on how long it has been there has to be a point where he just doesn’t care. Especially since his background with Twilight is undefined, like whether or not he is close to her parents. Episode could have just been about a dragon claiming different culture to be a jerk or faking an injury to mooch.
“some rando”
That “rando” claim to be his dad and have the physique to match.Spike being an orphan,it doesnt seem out of character he’ll attach himself to someone who have a believable story on how he is a long lost relative
>Cruel tease
Get a grip, you never knew cruelty
Well, they kind of do that. Spike gets it in his head that all the stuff Sludge teaches him about being a dragon is more or less sacred, so when Twilight confronts him about the fact that Sludge is just using Spike’s admiration of him for his own advantage, Spike lashes out at Twilight. In some respects it becomes a little bit of a culture clash, think elements of “Dragon quest” with more of a slice of life feel to it. I’ll need to revisit this epp once it comes out in english…
There’s language I don’t understand, but Spike doesn’t really get angry when he appears to be getting ready to leave with Sludge, more likely saying “Oh, you’re not my real mom” or something like that, that to Spike doesn’t seem insensitive but it breaks Twi’s heart.
If you wouldn’t mind answering the same question I asked Excelsior, I’d appreciate it. Spike is my favorite character, but this series has become the only one I’ve ever watched where I have to avoid my favorite character’s episodes.
This doesn’t need to be spoiler hidden?
How badly does Spike treat Twilight in this episode? The idea that he suddenly gives up on being the sweet, kind, concerned boy he’s always been just because some rando shows up and enables poor behavior is just lazy writing that makes me violently ill to think about, but does he completely do a “You’re not my mom!” moment when she tries to correct him or something like that?
Technically… he never did it himself. But the episode itself was quite teasing, and Haber wrote it…
I didn’t know how Haber teased this, but anything that strengthens the bond between Twilight and Spike (which has been a bit sketchly lately) is fine by me.
Mind you, I’m holding out on whether this was a good or a great episode until I can hear the English language parts to it. I just don’t think its bad given the resolution involving Spike and his father.
Still, that wasn’t very nice of Haber. I mean teasing such a big turn of events in the show, and then at the end of the day the episode turning out being a pointless filler that it could not exist and it wouldn’t make any difference. It’s pratically the same bullshit McCracken did two years ago with The Robomechabotatron episode from Wander Over Yonder (making a giant robot fight episode….. WITHOUT THE FIGHT)…..
Uhm, wow. So….. after an episode about a griffon being orphan, one about respecting your friends passions even thought are not your thing, one about not all friends meant to travel together, one about being a good example for your fans, one about finding your place in the world (with a FUCKING ALLEGORY TO SUICIDE AS WELL), one about friends helping each other facing your fears and one about the importance of all the emotions, bad or good that are… we’ve come to this… After such a streak of amazing episodes in the second half this one other than breaking up the record, was also wasted potential at the maximum power. If I think that Haber wrote this one…. goddammit…. oh well, I hadn’t that much of expectations on this one anyway. The only thing I care at this point is to see the ending of the story (aka the series finale). This episode was just an extremely pointless bad filler. Wasted potential, but nothing we can do about it. Moving on.
goddammit, mlp…
…Crap, I forgot the spoiler tag.
…Well, that was expected and yet I’m disappointed there were no answers.
