Description
A full mock-up of one of the cards I made based on “Sounds of Silence,” with aesthetic engineering by Phil Srobeign.
This is admittedly a stretch for black’s part of the color pie, but it does occasionally get broader-scope sacrifice effects.

Don’t forget “sacrifice a permanent” effects, which can even allow black to hit enchantments. The Torment cycle from Hour of Devastation, Choice of Damnations, Curse of the Cabal, Liliana of the Veil, Phyrexian Obliterator…
Suffice to say, it’s not entirely out of the question.
Yeah, in 2001, pre-modern, one of a total of three black cards that can hit all artifacts. Black being unable to deal with non-living things (non-creature artifacts and enchantments) is one of the core aspects of black so it is a major break, not a bend. Previous breaks don’t mean it’s not a break.
It’s a bend, certainly, but it’s been done before. Braids, Cabal Minion comes to mind, though that was a while back. It just loses some of it’s symmetry if it only hit creatures
