I guess the questionable implication is whether or not the fainting mare knew that this was a mare, and, if the washout expected her to think she was a stallion, was she perhaps just exploiting that.

I think what most confuses me about how people are reacting to this is the number of hoops people try to jump through to deny the lesbian implications here. This is the sort of thing we’ve seen all the time in movies, TV shows, what have you… where it’s always been a man winking at a woman, who then faints because the implication is sexual and/or romantic attraction proves a bit overwhelming. No one has ever questioned that about those instances, even in cases where it’s done as an obvious parody, as here.
 
Thus, why would this be any different? Even if, for some odd reason, the fan in the audience mistook Rolling Thunder for a stallion (Which would be very confusing since even within the limited art style of the show she’s easily spottable as a mare immediately, and would only be more obvious if you extrapolate it out to what the ponies would look like in “real life”) Rolling Thunder was quite aware she was winking at a mare.
 
As such it is perfectly reasonable to assume this has lesbian implications, because it does. Does that make it some sort of huge agenda being shoved down people’s throats or whatever? Nope! In fact this is exactly the kind of representation that I and many others like me would like to see: casual moments, where a thing that wouldn’t even get an eyeblink of confusion if the two people involved were a man and a woman being done with a homosexual pairing, and with it being just as unremarkable. Being treated as normal is very good, and very desirable.

Ffs, if people wanna ship some mares just let people say they’re gay. We’re literally never gonna see Rolling Thunder again, and shipping in general is such a non-issue I can’t understand why we’re arguing about this.
 
Objectively, the wink probably didn’t mean anything but who cares if someone takes it as ship or speculation fuel. Hell, this is more suggestive to lesbianism than any rarijack/flutterdash interaction has ever been but nobody cares when someone likes to say they’re into each other.

Judging by that typical response I would lean heavily to yes.

I still can’t think of Rolling Thunder as a female. My initial impression was that she was a guy and it’s too strong now. Despite the female face shape and the eyelashes, I just can’t associate that voice with a girl pony.
