”Ctizens of South Korea, please remain calm!”
- Quote from Korean president, Syngman Rhee, lying to South Koreans in Seoul that there’s no North Korean invasion while himself fleeing away from Seoul
Not that guy, but, in the interest of historical accuracy:
South Korean troops participated in the Vietnam War. The ROK 2nd Marine Brigade, the “Dragon Eye Marines,” were in South Vietnam 1964-1973. Despite having outdated equipment, they were very well trained and highly disciplined, and their morale was high. They fought quite well. The Vietcong were more afraid of them than they were of American troops.
South Korean troops have participated in many UN peacekeeping missions around the world from the 1960s to the present day.
South Korean troops–again, ROK Marines–were deployed in Afghanistan from 2003 to 2014, and participated in both combat and peacekeeping missions there. Additionally South Korean troops are deployed in many nations around the world in military cooperation and training missions pertaining to the War on Terror, from the Philippines to the United Arab Emirates to India to several African nations.

What happened in 2014? I’ve never heard of South Korea being involved in any more fighting after the 50s.

“I do not know what to do.”
@HwanyPlayz
“Fuck the Korean War is really, really bad. Are you sick? Well, if you do not actually tell me, will anarchy come? If you were president, you’d be right.”
What are you talking about? That has nothing to do with anything any commenters have said.

“Rhee stated, “Every Cabinet member, including myself, will protect the government, and parliament has decided to remain in Seoul. Citizens should not worry and remain in their workplaces.” However, Rhee had already left the city with most of his government on June 27. At midnight on June 28, the South Korean military destroyed the Han Bridge, thereby preventing thousands of citizens from fleeing.”
What the fuck? I hope he’s burning in Hell.
