What the heck happened with “Jerry Springer”?
One year later,PinkiePony controversy say hi to you,o mighty neutral above us :-)
So for the most part, the Internet has decided that “MLP Fan” who watches it like any other TV Show, and the “Brony” which refers to the side of the fanbase that obsesses over it, campaign to have tumblr blogs taken down, and go into depressive fits at hysterical stunts like the “Jerry Springer” thing.
Much like how a “Person who plays games” is someone who enjoys games, and a “Gamer” is either the XBox Live/Steam assholes or the entitled crybabies that start idiotic shit like “Retake Mass Effect.”
And then there is me, the aforementioned Child of Bhaal (yeah that’s me) who sit the sidelines of the whole thing looking for something to exploit for cheap traffic building gags.
No group, community, or fanbase get’s to have a 100% say in how they are viewed by the rest of the world. Just ask Christianity.
I thought “Brony” was only ever a shorter way of saying “MLP fan”.
Just because you disagree with some the users’ viewpoints doesn’t make everything they say invalid. It is kind of ridiculous to make up arbitrary divisions within a fandom.
Only people inside the fandom care or view it as important. Anyone outside any given fandom doesn’t care enough to give the various kinds of fans any sort of distinction at all. There are no tests, no official indoctrination, there’s nothing at all to prevent anyone from calling themselves an “MLP Fan” OR a “Brony”. What’s more, “right” and “wrong” behavior is highly subjective. The only real way close that gap with someone who may not believe as you do is to have open, honest, communication, and ask the other person for their reasoning. It takes a lot of time and effort, and it’s not really something people always want to spend time on. So gaps remain. What you call yourself matters very little. How you act as an individual matters much, much more.
Putting a label or generalizing fans really won’t help your situation. The fact of the matter is that in a sufficiently large fandom, you are going to encounter a very wide variety of people, not all of which you personally will agree with. Some people want to have fun in their own ways. Some are going to be very reserved about it, some are going to be very showy and extravagant about it. That’s any fandom ever for you.
Repeat after me: “It’s just a show. I really should just relax.”
On the other hand he IS an RD-fan…
Also FYI bhaalspawn dedicated a whole episode defending mlp fim from haters
Whatever.
He has a point.
Also, what does the “RVI” tag mean.
Because all I can think of is this place.
Curse my Novocastrian-ness.
I avoid those people like the plague.
