Plenty of artists have made plushies for themselves, for charity auctions, as prototypes or one-offs, even as gifts for the show runners. There are plenty of people making very little on them too - they don’t all sell for thousands of dollars like that Fluttershy Gala Dress or the life-sized Rainbow Dash, you know. Given the hours involved many sellers make less than minimum wage on them.
People don’t do art just for money. He isn’t doing this just for money. People do not draw from their heart for money. People do not put creative effort into things JUST for money.
People do these things because they love arts and crafts. They may not even need them, so they decide to sell them on eBay. Just because they’re selling something does not mean that they don’t care, or they’re not creative. That’s just such an asinine notion.
