I actually don’t think it was confirmed, but it certainly requires less explanation than him being uncorrupted and shit.

Sombra was like, getting ROYALY screwed from the beggining. Why would he stay evil when some no good member of his race would just kill his GF then kill
and overthrow him? All he wanted was revenge for the Crystal Empire’s and Equestria’s rullers’ negligence and the population’s prejudice. He got it and what then?
I think it was that (or something like it) plus Sombra being willing to sacrifice himself to take down the Umbrum that equaled the Crystal Heart resurrecting him as a normal pony.

(yes I’m counting Sombra’s character arc from the comics because it actually showed what he was trying to accomplish)

Interesting. That reminds me of something I learned when studying the Maori language, something that, I admit, appeals to me.
The Maori word for “friend” is “hoa.” The Maori don’t have a single word for “enemy,” but a two-word phrase, “hoa riri,” which, if I understand correctly, means “anger friend.” Assuming I do understand correctly, the phrasing suggests that the best way to make a friend of an enemy is to target and eliminate the anger.
