episodes like ‘every little thing she does’ and ‘all bottled up’ disagree, its one of the things that trixie and starlight have in common they both have this habit of geting way ahead of themselves without thinking things thru, diffrence is how it plays out for trixie its with her boasting, she will often say things to make herself sound more powerfull and end up eating crow later because of it (like with the ursa minor) starlight on the other hand when faced with a problem will instantly attempt to brute force it with a magical solution, often with devistatingly bad results, some may say twilight does the same thing but not realy, twilights magic is learned and she has to carefully think of which spell to use, starlights magic is almost intuitive
to use DND terms, twilight is a wizard
starlight is a sorceress
you’re thinking of trixie
With bursts of unthinking initiative that doesn’t take others’ feelings or situations into account.
Edited
Her anxiety with magic, bottling up her emotions, sometimes thinking her way is best, can be overly passive at times.
name one
HAS numerous flaws.
HAD numerous flaws
A Mary Sue is a character that has a noticeable lack of flaws, of which Starlight isn’t as she has numerous flaws. And before you try and save she’s OP, the latest season finale or even the finales beforehand will prove you wrong.
i do
You probably don’t even know what a Mary Sue even is.
truthfully humans are actualy more then capable of it, though i can see why you would think they arnt given that most of what you see of people in the news media are the worst of the lot
truth is, humans are a drasticly diverse lot and a small subset of that bunch are incredibly vocal about there view points, the ‘vocal minority’ as some have called it’
but as its counter sugests, the vast majority of people are content to be silent and just live out there lives not bothering anyone…sometimes to a fault.
I think the whole “love and tolerate” thing was ironic, because no human can truly be loving and “tolerant” by modern definition.
yet all we seem to do anymore is rage….
You mean this gif?
You dont
I apologize for my hostility in my last post,
You were specifying Starlight and others who do extremely bad crimes,
and I took that and made it sound as though you can’t express mercy or forgiveness for anyone.
The point I was trying to make is still valid,
but the argument is much weaker for resorting to exaggerations.
@Tavi959
Rehabilitation contributes more to society than Punishment.
If the rehab fails so be it, but if it succeeds?
There’s a reason Starlight is so loyal and grateful towards and protective of Twilight now.

I agree that no reformed villain should be punished for wanting to change their ways. I also agree that all too often released criminals are regarded with contempt by society.
It’s all too frequently, in fact, that the poor treatment a reformed criminal gets in society plays an important role in the decision to turn back to crime.

Thanks!
@FlutterButterButt
I thought it would be fun to do this as an ‘in character’ announcement.
Please feel free to put the ‘mouthpiece’ tag under the ‘hide’ category on filters anytime.
@Tavi959
You make some interesting points about why Starlight’s skill and power with magic is fine as it is,
but that background pony was pretty vague about what their problem with Starlight is.
@ILoveMyoozik
I admit some of the word choice are a bit off, ‘hostile’ and ‘universally’ stand out.
I would call it more sassy and condenscending, and it’s often how Starlight talks when she’s making a (counter)argument, in my opinion.
@Azyrite
If you think anybody who has commited wrongs or crimes in the past has all their opinions and arguments automatically invalid, then you’re honestly an idiot.
You might as well try to get such people imprisoned for life or executed, if your idea of ‘justice’ is being an
actual mind-slave, every word from your mouth taboo and ignored, because you did such-and-such some time ago.
Learn not to judge someone from their past actions all the time.
Also, please note the disclaimer at the top where she says its cool if you simply don’t like her.
You see all the redemption stuff in the show as setting a bad example for real life,
but in my opinion I think there is way too much revenge and punishment and not enough actual justice and rehabilitation going on.
@Tavi959
Good point about how Luna always seems to get a free pass for the shit she did in comparison to Starlight.
Of course, neither should get shit about it, cause it’s in the past, they’ve expressed remorse, and moved on to become contributing members of pony society.
@Tavi959
What’s even more appalling is when people do serve time for their crimes and are still treated like shit when they are released. So much for a second chance.
I gave up on Dragon Ball before I hit puberty. That fandom has no sense of humor these days.
I also don’t take MLP super seriously either. Truthfully, it’s appalling how often someone who should be in prison for their crimes is never even punished IRL despite the authorities being well aware of it.
In fact, I watch MLP because reality kinda sucks that way.
Yes, Other franchises do this too and it sucks just as hard when they do it. Thank you for Pointing that out.
This franchise? You act like this is a phenomenon unique to MLP. Excuses have been made for villains far more dangerous than Starlight Glimmer. People will put leather pants on completely irredeemable villains by blaming the heroes.
If that sort of thing is a problem for you, you won’t find a place doesn’t have it. And Equestria is a sugar bowl world, which makes justifying it even easier.
