Personally I have the headcanon that the Changelings ‘willpower’ is dictated by their leader. Like a ‘hive mind’ but with each changeling still an individual just ‘linked’ to this emotional network. Chrysalis is a strong and nasty individual so with her as a leader the changelings were a serious threat. When Thorax became the leader though the Changelings adopted his nervous and somewhat timid attitude. Like Thorax they can rally in a tough spot (as seen in the episode ‘To Change a Changeling’). But it will take Thorax growing into a more confident and strong leader before the Changelings become anything more formidable.

The movie was fantastic. The animation was fantastic, the style, the set up it was all amazing and the song is memorable.

So the capital city of Equestria, Canterlot and the town of Ponnyville is being under attack and every creature just do nothing and being stupid.  
Shining armor is in the Crystal Empire playing with flurry heart.  
The royal guard don’t make any counter attack because the captain did not give order. They should make an counter attack because four Princesses is in danger, we don’t take orders in that scenerio, you guys main responsibilities is to protect all 4 Princess not follow the captain order.  
The yaks are jealous because ponies have big black smoke.  
The dragon kingdom said it not fair why pony having thick black smoke during their celebration but they can’t. Do they even want to go their and check. The ponies of Equestria did’t just create big thick black smoke for a festival that supposed to be clear weather festival.  
King Thorax hear about the Storm king but he though is just a legend he hear from a story and he knows other changelings can’t fight with that army, At least they try to tell other kingdom about the storm king.  
The Griffin however they don’t have any army at all and almost the entire population of Griffonstone do it for bits.  
Sunset Shimmer is in other world and you have to read the contract Sunset, don’t be like twilight mom and you almost lost your memory, your human mane 6 friend and the whole school turn back on you in that movie.  
Star swirls however, how even he still reading, the whole city population just turn into slave at that time and their’s even a powerful storm and the sun and the moon just went up and down, up and down, up and down day and night, day and night, day and night.
 
and Star swirl you better be careful about that sparkle student. Other pony heard she even knows everything about you, even your private life.

Griffins are having existencial crisis.

I scrolled to the bottom just in case the “shining armor is a goddamn moron” tag wasn’t added. It was. I’m happy.

That movie is a gold mine of side stories since it happened after the pillars were released. It was a terrible movie, though.
