Description

TS: “Daring Do! Climbing the Three Sisters is illegal! I must ask you to leave!”
DD: “Oh dear. I’m sorry, Princess, I couldn’t resist.”

Rock climbing on the Three Sisters rock formation at Katoomba, Australia has been banned since the year 2000. Anyone caught either gets heavily fined or arrested.
Luckily, Daring Do was only given a warning.

I get that. Personally, I’m not fond of ‘blank’ nature shots. They don’t feel right unless there’s something in them, whether it’s an animal, a flower or something man-made, it gives pictures more… something.

I don’t know what word I’m looking for, but for reference, my favourite picture I’ve taken is of the half-overgrown foundation of an old WWII ammo deposit in the small patch of bush across the road from where I live. Kinda makes for an interesting piece to discuss how Nature is attempting to claim something that was brought into its domain. It was stripped and demolished long before I was born, but they left the foundation, and you can occasionally come across spent rifle casings and the like if you take a metal detector.

My only question is if you take these photos yourself.

They are amazing! It is illegal to climb them though, like it says in the description. But there is access to them via a walking trail and a small bridge linking the rock formation to the plateau.

Hard to get a sense of scale from the picture. It looks kinda small here but I assume it’s gotta be big if people climb it.
