When she last saw Pinkie she suggested she just needed to spend more time with Mudbriar to get to know him better. When they showed up, I read this as her hoping, praying, that things had gone well and they’d gotten friendlier. She kept talking because it was clear from their reactions that, no, no it hadn’t.

I read this scene as both. She was trying to engage and was getting anxious because he wasn’t saying anything and once things was starting to get awkward between the three she quickly tried to change the subject. But it didn’t work lol

You think that’s where her mind was? I read that scene as Starlight trying to engage with Mud Briar, and she was getting incredibly anxious inside because he didn’t respond immediately. So, to avoid an awkward silence, she just kept making comment after comment until he said something.
I feel like the evil eye Pinkie gave Mud Briar at one point during all this was because he was ‘being rude’ to Starlight.
