Thst’s putting it mildly. To me, at least, Rarity seemed completely weirded out by the whole thing. I wiah someone had made a .gif of it, because it was one of the funniest reaxtions in the epidode.

Well, certainly, but it’s fuel of a particular type. Ponies standing next to each other is mere gasoline, a kiss is like a shot of nitrous. It sends the thoughts of a shipper reeling along with Rarity’s reaction. “Does she really feel we’re that familiar? What has she been hiding? How do I feel about this? Am I perhaps overreacting? What if I’m not? What if I’d reciprocated in turn? Should I have?”
 
Might be the kick in the ass needed to send the ship off, might be it blows out the engine and she never sails, but it will get something done.

Sure, let them see Fluttershy’s dressup alter-egos as excuses to act out all the things, or whatever. A double cheek kiss has a mildly intimate form despite being extremely convention-bound, so I’m not gonna stop them them extrapolating out of unfamiliarity and going off somewhere they like 🍿
 
But they’d be missing something here. Shy’s acting out though the Flutteralts may allow her to put on a different face, but it escalates to her acting without proper consideration of the feelings of others, right? So an overfamiliar degree of social greeting is just a small part of her /prim worldly businesspony/ ’sona steamrollering ahead and not considering for a second whether Rarity expects it. Result: astonished lack of reciprocation from Rarity even though she knows this one, concerned bemusement, and mini-BSOD a few seconds later as the reality turbulence escalates.
 
tl;dr. Shippers gonna ship it like Maersk, but nobody needs to be a dick.

Then you need to get your rose-colored glasses checked. A shipper will squee when their otp stands next to each other. A kiss? Even a platonic one? That’s a whole new level.

It’s not even a blip on the shipping radar, just a friendly greeting.
 
However it’s unexpected given the context, and that’s more interesting. Rarity might greet and be greeted by her extroverted and worldly fashion buddies that way, but when it’s Fluttershy it’s a surprise and therefore too familiar. She takes a little step back immediately afterwards and gives her friend a look of concern.

Okay. I see what you mean and that’s fair enough, really. Liking a pairing doesn’t always have to mean “love pairing”.  
I for one do not exactly ship these two, but you know that no matter what the context, there will always be those who do just depending on their personal point of view
