After Paint Swirl died tragically in childbirth, Royal Splendor and the rest of her family and friends were crushed. They had lost a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend. It really did leave a hole in their hearts that could never be healed, and nopony could shake that feeling of emptiness that came with it.  
Ten years went by. Roy grew older, his kids grew up, and he even found company in his wife’s best friend, Feather Fieldgoal. But he still desperately longed for Paint. One day, Discord approached him with a spell, one that would fulfill his heart’s desire and bring his love back to him.  
And it did. Paint was living and breathing again just as she used to. Her parents and brothers rejoiced, the hole in their hearts finally filled. Roy, too, was happy. The love of his life was back by his side. His kids would finally get to know their mother. He was no longer depressed and lonely. Indeed, their family was whole again.
