Hmm, the statue has the possibility of no release. But, it also seems to follow the “comatose rule” of the longer you’re at it, the smaller your chances. Which would imply that the chances aren’t that bad at first.
 
The moon, however… well, am I stuck as the moon with the incarnation of nightmares? If not, definitely the moon. If so… well, there are few hells more dastardly.

Luna’s punishment was way worse than being stuck on the surface of another Celestial body for a thousand years. Her body basically became one with the moon for a thousand years, her will completely bound to Celestia’s. The Elements may be good, but hot damn if they aren’t harsh on evil-doers.
