Boy the GameCube is that old now?
Yep.
The Sonic CD cinematics were also better quality then the original Sega CD system version. They also included a brief ending scene from a scrapped level, and featured a scrapped ant-lion badnik.
But I think what pokes the camel in the butt on why this compilation is awesome is watching the cutscenes to Sonic CD which it was originally planned to be in this game but it was moved over to Gems Collection.
It’s music was nice, it’s menu designs, and DVD-ish bonus features were nice. Especially, including digital scans of the original instruction manuals for games.
I’m amazed Nintendo didn’t think to include digital scans of classic games instruction manuals until recently.
One thing I like about Mega Collection is the music. The intro music is especially my favorite. Heck I used it for the first episode of VeggieTales reviews when I reviewed King George and the Ducky.
Y’know, funny thing about the GameCube “Sonic Mega Collection” game not many know is, according to the Gamer’s Edition of Guinness World Records, it’s the #1 selling compilation/collection game ever made. Though, it sold much better after it’s price-cut to $19.99.
That means it even outsold “Super Mario All-Stars.”
