With good reason, lad, Mainlander was massively influenced by Schopenhauer, and he wrote of him in The Philosophy of Redemption on the same level of Jesus and the Buddha. To this day, Mainlander is still known as one of the most important (despite how obscure he is) followers of Schopenhauer, and is also known for his truly extreme degree of pessimism (while the man himself was said to be very gentle and kind-hearted, and the Philosophy Of Redemption does indeed show a warm if lonely personality in it’s prose and ethics).

Eh, that doesn’t have anything to do with what I said though… if he can reach the floor he might just end up standing on two legs. Though I guess someone determined enough to die could still do it if the initial constriction is enough to throw them off balance.

Given IRL Philipp Mainlander killed himself off a stack of copies of his own Philosophy of Redemption, whether or not the rope broke his neck or not may or may not have mattered so long as he embraced death at the end.
