That’s the problem with zebras, they’re unreliable.
Not to mention that the Gryphons don’t have any actual proof that debt wasn’t paid. Just that they can’t find the paperwork.
More that the core conflict in this arc is just terrible and requires Celestia to be utterly spineless despite the fact no one would ever take the Griffon claim seriously due to length of time and lack of any enforcing it.
Really now? That’s why you say it’s bad?
But The Cutie Re-Mark states that if they can’t save the day every time, Equestria becomes a shithole.
Well, I suppose the Mane Six can’t save the day every time.
No, the little blurbs state Raven saves the day.
Just goes to show how bad the Main Series is.
.It’s not a very large hope, but it is a hope
PS Is it really very wrong of me to say that I actually kinda like Lord Goldstone; that smarmy insincere ittle act of his is hilarious.
Edited
This premise is asinine even by the standards of the main series.
– Yes I know this won’t happen, I’m just wondering here.
See, that’s my biggest issue with how this plotline is being handled. By the fact that the deal was made before Celestia’s time, it must be more than a millennium old. The simple fact that the griffons went for more than a thousand years without ever bothering to enforce it – in fact, completely forgetting they had ever singed away that much land or owned it in the first place until someone else did the blasted work for them – would completely void their right to making such a preposterous claim in any reasonable system.
Of course, “reasonable” isn’t a word that describes how this comic arc is shaping up. As per usual.
Why did it have to be Friends Forever that got the axe…
“You mean the people who SAVED our lands from a very recent incident?”
Seriously, fuck this comic. The writers cannot write a convincing story.
Because that’s what their going to hear.
It still wouldn’t fly remotely today. A deal made that long ago under a completely different ruler would be laughed at since no effort was made to claim it. Of course this comic wont even have any effect in the long run so no need to worry, errything will be pure status quo by the end.
The ones they want to trade with to ostensive mutual benefit, yes.
The ones who stopped the storm king? The one literally ruled by immortals? About a deal centuries old not even made by its current ruler? Good bloody luck.
Well they could try that.
Or maybe they could just open the door and yell down the hall “Hey every other nation in the world! You know how we’re all redrawing trade deals and border lines due to the fall of Storm King’s empire? Well have I got a story to tell about deals with Equestria!”
She could have, but where’s the ‘friendship’ in that? She very well could have just glanced at them, refused their demands on any number of logical grounds, then reminded them that they have no way to enforce any threats they make and walk off but that would have hurt their feelings.
