Applejack was born on Sweet Apple Acres, her sister Applebloom a few years later. compared to most of her earth pony brethren, she’s rather laid back and calm. she enjoys taking care of the apple trees, and the garden that’s near the barn but when she’s upset, she tends to work the fields a lot, exhausting herself to the point of delirium but refusing to pass out until She Thinks She’s Done™. thankfully (or maybe not), moments like these are rare because she usually just bottles up her emotions and just goes about her day, being happy for everyone and being the helpful pony everyone thinks she is.
 
one day, Sweet Blossom, Applejack’s mother, was caught in the falling wreckage of a sky carriage, and was crushed under the debris. Applebloom was just a baby when it happened, and AJ was there with her mother until her last dying breath while Big McIntosh ran to get help. Sweet Blossom gave her the earrings and bandanna that she wears to this day, to honor her memory and keep her alive in her heart. every day, Applejack thinks about her and wishes so hard that she could have been stronger, so that she could have saved her mother.
 
Applejack’s father disappeared after Sweet Blossom got pregnant the third time, with Applebloom. Granny Smith hid all evidence of him, and it had been so long since AJ and Big McIntosh heard his name, that they’ve forgotten it. Granny hopes they never remember it, and never asks about him. ever. she doesn’t want the Apple siblings to know what happened to him.
