Well, it’s a hell of a lot more realistic than pairing up Octavia with another mare.

Pinkie Pie becoming a “matchmaker,” or “shipper” is a scary thought.
 
This pic would make more sense if you consider some of the fanon ideas that Pinkie, and Octavia might be related. (“Octavia Pie” has a nice ring to it.)
