And sometimes even that is the goal. To create something stronger than the creator of the setting.
Unfortunately, sometimes, one’s creations succeed in killing their creator. ;D
To perfect life forms. Consider the worlds testing chambers or petri dishes. You create it, set life in motion on it, see what happens. If it fails to be something interesting let the cycle reset and try again until you find life forms that are more of what you are looking for.
That’s what I never understand about this kind of fiction. What is the point in creating worlds, if you just destroy them afterwards. I mean the World Destroyer keeps saying it’s his destiny to reset the world, but then what happens to the new world? Would it just be reset too? When would the cycle end? Why not let the world run its course, then when the world is dead, and the inhabitants is either extinct or moved on to other worlds, then reset it, to give new life where none currently exist.
Ooh, yeah, perhaps, and when it comes to Loveless’ comics, Dusk could send him to the Alien homeworld or SR388 or Sonic’s homeworld that’s constantly retconned or Hyrule that’s constantly retconned or Tron’s homeworld after it blew up in Tron 2. X3
I mean, if you can reset another planet that’s currently DEAD, its probably a lot better than what was planned.
… Or, you know… He’s immortal, so he could just… I don’t know, wait it out. Live it up while the world’s still going, so he knows what is good about the world; and then once the world is gone, they’ll miss the world while it was still in the middle of a good time, and know its the right time.
