Description
This is a comparison chart of models, I made this recently in my free time whilst bored.
These show all the topology of the Sweetie Belle models I have on hand. For informational purposes, the face count of each model(not in tris!) has been added below each of the model renders. I would have added Uncommented’s model (which did actually play a role in the creation of mine), but he has since removed all existence of it awhile ago.
The Gameloft model has had it’s textures rendered greyscale simply for clarity on details such as the mouth, and eyes.
As you can see, the number of faces follows a pattern of an gradually increase. The decision upon thinking if one of these meshes is better than another of it’s type is purely up to taste, as these are no more than different three-dimensional interpretations of the same, fictional, two-dimensional character.
Edit: The model I’ve made has been applied from a subsurf of two, hence the high polycounts. If informational posts like this aren’t your thing, this will be the only time I’ll post such a thing.

Edited because: Blender
they dont have to be high poly. you dont see them so close. too many poly = lower performance. so reduce them as far as possible to get those sweet sweet fps back. 13k+ faces would be a total overkill for a gameloft game.
Yup, all of the CMC overhaul models for SFM had topology like that for their manes/tails.
Oddly, Sweetie’s tail was the exception.
So true, that. HL2 came out in 2004, after all.
@FillerArtist
For some reason I’m not sure the grooves in the horn are supposed to be like that…
This is after a subdivision of 2. The model itself has only been shown in this polycount for presentation reasons.
Here’s the default topology:
And yeah, I may need to fix the horn up.
Edited
also i dont like the new horn. looks like a buttplug
