Ugh, the main problem is that the people who create this show are far too talented to stick with the generic children’s show plot. They should evolve this show, put in story-arcs and plot devices. Make the show like… like… Justice League Unlimited!

Oh yes, forgot to actually say. Sombra? Involved? Highly doubtful. FiM doesn’t have any kind of recurring story, it likes to keep all episodes in a state of “It doesn’t matter what order you watch them in”, and there’s just not much point at all to having Sombra be involved instead of, say, just a generic Evil that doesn’t need flashbacks. If it was an Evil, which I still doubt, because Ponyville is clearly not getting destroyed.

I’d say there’s less of a question of if Trixie banishes Twilight, because Twilight totally has a reason to engage in a magic duel with the wager of the loser getting banished. What I’d say is more questionable is whether Trixie forces ponyville into, essentially, slavery, or whether Trixie just becomes really popular naturally.
 
Considering that it’s all too likely that Trixie gets banished from losing a second duel, I’d say it’s more likely to be the latter. Or at least, some variant of “Not forcing Ponyvillians into slavery”.
 
Could be a dictatorship, maybe. Ponyville likes Trixie so much they basically make her queen of Ponyville, but then she makes everyone miserable by demanding constant memorials and dedications, and nobody wants to take her on except for Twilight. That’s my guess. Maybe. Definitely.
 
I’d say the biggest thing to think of in theorymongering is… the statues. Statues don’t pop up overnight.

It’s going to be some friendship lesson about “shining in your own light” or something ridiculous, if TSP is right. It’s obviously not her own power she’s using, Trixie can barely magic her way out of a cardboard box. But then, that doesn’t make her any different than the Mane 6 and their magical artifacts of purification. Bonus points if she brings that up.

I still wager she’s not flat-out evil, and is just an incredibly angry mare with an axe to grind. Her conscience will never rest east until she gives Ponyville what’s coming for it.

True, but I don’ think Trixie would ordinarily be the kind of pony to destroy all of Ponyville. She’s not that evil (though evil enough to banish Twilight). Under Sombra’s horn’s control, though, that is inevitable.

Prepare for the absolute worst, and anything above that won’t seem so bad. Plus I’ve sadly gotten good at predicting episodes from synopsis and bits a pieces.

Point still stands. Look at the premier, there wasn’t actually that much happening and 44 minutes still wasn’t enough. We can’t have a two-character return with major backstory, a duel, the trixification of Ponyville, Twilight learning how to defeat Trixie, come back and fix things, have a letter to Celestia and still have some funny bits thrown in. Just no time, and frankly neither is there a reason for it. FiM is Twilight’s show first, rest of the Six and the CMC second; everyone else is just a gag character to further Twilight’s plot.

This is obviously going to be a fanservice episode. Like, blatantly. Did you even see all the easter eggs in TMPP? They’re catching on.

Who’s to say she doesn’t flat out accept Sombra, though? It’s not nonconsensual possession, she’s doing it just so she has the edge she needs.

Why you so negative?

Nope, unfortunately Sombra’s very dead and Trixie’s not going to have a redeemable “excuse” for being evil.
 
Her name practically means “cheater” and she’s the anti-Twilight (ie not-nice); Sombra’s horn flying into the screen was just a gag to say “he’s really really dead” that backfired hard due to all the overanalyzation. There’s not enough time in 22 minutes to give a one-time antagonist any sort of focus, bring back a major villain, have a few gags and a worthwhile plot and conclusion.
 
Episode is going to be played as straight as a razor.
