Yeah, I guess I’m a sucker for cute sad ponies. It’s also kinda nice to see versions of Sweetie-bot that are taken a li’l seriously, and more then just “Sweetie with a funny robot voice.”
Yeah, some do the “Sweetie Belle injures herself and discovers she is a robot” story for drama in their fanfics and fanart.

While I love that satire series, I like how others have had alternative takes on Sweetie bot. There was a fanfic I liked, (and I don’t read fics much) where Sweetie finds out she’s a robot, and is horrified & saddened by it, but doesn’t understand what a robot is either. The other CMC are confused by it too.
If only looking similar were enough to protect you from copyright, more of those cheap knock-off pony toys would be sold in the U.S.. This is going to be a direct competitor for Hasbro’s own animatronic toys, so I’m pretty sure they would try if they could.

She’s not a cannon, that’s true, but cannon attachments are not a problem for robots.
Sweetie bot is not cannon.
