Description
How well would they do if they fought and used their magic to their maximum potential.
Seriously, their power levels may not be as high but they still seem like they would be overpowered as hell to me.

I would really like to have her, but I eventually ended up going with Rockhoof. He’s actually a trained fighter, where as Maud is just really strong.
Power scaling from Midnight Sparkle, a nigh confirmed Planet-Buster. But again, as I said, that was only due to VERY particular circumstances. Chances are that Sunset would be less useful in a fight than Starlight.
I’d like to hear your reasoning for why Sunset has superior power to anyone on this list sans Twilight. We certainly haven’t seen it on-screen.
@Josh103
@Yoga is boring
She’s been shown to be able to teleport when the camera’s not facing her, much like Pinkie Pie. She can probably even teleport out of a levitation aura. Magic isn’t an “I win” button against those that don’t have it. It’s just that the writers of this show have been too lazy to put some goddamn rules and restrictions on unicorn magic that can subsequently be exploited to allow a non-magic-user to defeat a magic-user. They just keep pretending this gross imbalance is irrelevant. Which it is, for the most part, given this show revolves primarily around social conflicts.

Maybe it was correct for S1, but nowadays Dash is much more level-headed, so I doubt that it works so well against her. Besides, while poor strategist, she was shown to be a great tactician and adept prankster, so I’m pretty sure she could pull up more then a few dirty tricks herself if needed.
@Philweasel
Well, while indeed being fuelled by magic, I’m pretty sure it considered natural ability for pegasi… They DO have wings after all!
I have to agree with the sentiment though, with all this focus on raw magical power this team feels dangerously like universe 10.
I would cut Sunset and Celestia (shock!) and substitute Dash and Rockhoof. Celestia might be magically powerful, but she neither has the OP friendship powers of Cadance and Twilight, or the sheer breath of abilities that Starswirl has, and the team does not lack for magical power.

Like I said, Dash is too much of a hothead and easy to bait. All anyone’s have to do is bait her into getting angry enough to do a divebomb and teleport out of the way at the last second, leaving Dash to rocket into the ground. Tempest couldn’t do that but she certainly could emit enough of her raw magic fireworks to hinder Dash’s visibility in the air and leave her wide open to getting zapped.
To “magic her wings shut” they should hit her with it first. Twilight managed to miss slowly levitating Starlight repeatedly on a point blank distance in a season 5 finale, and Starlight in turn can’t effectively hit Pharynx in e17. Since Dash can fly VERY fast and unpredictably change the direction of her flight, hitting her would be nearly impossible for them. And I doubt they’d have more then one chance to try before Dash getting… too close and personal with them.
Plus flyers seem to be freaking cursed in this tournament.
Dash is fast but she’s too much of a hothead. Any reasonably smart magic user could bait her, magic her wings shut and have at her.
Dash can easily obliterate half of the list instantly and the other half - after some struggle! As we’ve seen, casters in Equestria sucks at hitting fast-moving and agile targets, and I doubt even Alicorn-conjured shield could withstand a direct Sonic Rainnuke.
Edited because: Answered to wrong user
Maud couldn’t do much against magic. All any magic user would have to do is avoid physical contact with her and they’d be okay, which would be quite easy to anyone with a teleportation spell. Tempest might have a harder time not really being able to use any actual spells beyond just raw magic but that and her storm king army training should be more than enough to keep Maud at bay.
She can’t do much against magic. She doesn’t carry convenient anti-magic rocks as part of her standard repertoire.
Maud Pie, motherfucker.
Not, of course, would that change the fact that these poor Ponies are completely out of their league.
Well okay, that’s a bit hyperbolic, considering Roshi’s success, but I can guarantee you that ANYONE currently in the Tournament would be able to bitchslap anyone from the Saiyan Saga.
And that there is the kicker. Only TWO of the characters presented here have EVER reached a Power Level anywhere even close to spitting distance of Saiyan Saga ones (and no, Starlight isn’t one of them, so the SGDF and their enemies can stop arming themselves now), and only under VERY particular circumstances that aren’t easily replicated with said power-ups not being permanent. To the surprise of no one, these two characters are the main protagonists of their respective franchises, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle.
So yeah, they have no hope even in the absolute BEST circumstance.

Well I know Kefla and Starlight have loads of fans, so I’m not that bothered. Haters gotta hate.
Ultimately both made me like the main character more than ever before. I really dig masters and students.
…Goku’s teaching methods are a tiny bit more hands on, admittedly.
I…should have said in the beginning that I really love Starlight. I also find the Mary Sue argument to be a bit exaggerated. BUT, those are their opinions and I’m just repeating what they say. Why? Because I’m totally mainstream and basic.
You’re just jealous of Kefla’s swagger.
…and just like Starlight, you say Mary Sue and I watch her ass get humiliated and punted repeatedly across the ring. After a while I wonder if we’re watching the same show.
Yeah, Starlight is prolly closest to Piccolo in the sense that she’s given up trying to compete with Twilight. BUT–
Starlight is Kale–no, Starlight is Caulifla–no. Starlight is…KEFURA! Why? because the fans of DBS are calling Kale/Caulifla to be Mary Sue and full of BS.
Starlight was the first to show that unicorns can fly and thus make an alicorn seem redundant. She stood toe to toe with Princess Twilight at magic. She can swap cutie marks and most importantly, Bronies are calling Starlight to be Mary Sue and full of BS.
True, Starlight’s closest position I can think of is Piccolo. Not bad all things considered.
And thinking about it, he did take out one major villain! Raditz!
Even did it by worfing the main character…
