Oh, that’s just an ordinary comic book visual shorthand for “this is a continuous sheet of paper with a crease, rather than two separate pages”. Surely this can’t be the first time you’ve seen it?

No! Because now the crease doesn’t go all the way up. :(

If you look closely she’s actually unfolding a folded page in the book rather than opening the book to that page. To the left you can see the actual crease in the book as well as the other page. Also notice that there is nothing behind the right most edge of the paper, clearly showing that it’s not the other half of the book.
 
This is why there’s no heavy crease in the middle of the page and the text is flat in other pictures, because it actually is a single, flat piece of paper. Thus your editing is actually less accurate.
