Been doing some heavy re-working on the mouth rigging for the past few weeks. Lots of experimentation going on here. Let me know if anything about the mouth in particular looks a bit off. |
Also no I don’t plan on actually animating the song that comes after this line, at least not in the near future. Just in case anyone was curious. |

I must have replayed Don’t Mine At Night a billion times.
Don’t Mine at Night from Jan has actually been on my mind for something like that for a while. Can’t help but feel attached to that animation in a special way because that video was what got me into watching the show. So maybe…
You could choose to animate a fan video you really like. I don’t think you’d face too much opposition to that.
It’s something I would like to do someday honestly (preferably not alone), but then there are the legal concerns…
Edited
Obviously there are probably places you can improve still, lip syncing is a vastly underappreciated art and it takes a lot of work (one of the reasons that it ends up being one of the biggest parts of the budget for animation studios working on cartoons and such) but it passes the “I looked over it a few times at 50% speed on youtube” test with flying colors.
On a related note, don’t watch this in slow motion if you watched G3 and don’t want G3 flashbacks, because watching this in slow motion made me realize how much G4 Pinkie sounds like a sped up version of G3 Pinkie.
One of these days I should really stop posting anonymously whenever I want to give critique
You get the exact same bizarre looking effect with people too, it’s hilarious.
If you want to weird yourself out, while sitting or standing up straight, look straight up so that your chin is pointed at the ceiling and take a picture of yourself with your phone/camera out in front of you like you.
