It’s probably ironic that I’m listening to A Whole New World right now…but in any case

I don’t care what people say, it was cute. And I don’t think Timber didn’t change that much from LoE. Maybe he toned it down a notch, but Twilight seems to like guys like him. He obviously knows his stuff, which is why Twilight likes him to begin with.

Hummm…. thank you? My English is not very good, I am sorry if something was not understood to me very much (my native language is Spanish).

In any case, I hope that the tone of my comment did not sound abusive, I just wanted to express a little analysis about this “couple”. I know the text has errors, but I wrote it fast xD

In any case, hum, thanks for reading my comment. I’ve had this in my head since the short episode came out and I needed to express it.

What happened to Timber’s personality? When did it change so much? In LoE he did not show that he had really learned. When did it become so “sweet”? Timber did not even support his sister (He haved hidden secret’s her magic and he told in the campfire the “legend” of Gaiga Everfree when his sister had not even used magic). And, please, Timber did not learn anything at the end of the movie, it’s seeing how he could not thank Twilight and his friends for their help. Nothing justifies the abrupt change of Timber. They (the writters) did not respect his personality. They did not show how it has changed. And plus, the hang out is superficial and corny. Really? Does Sci-Twi was “sad” about the things that went wrong in the hang out when she no have guilt? Did the two already know each other a lot? Why does she still care to impress him? The two really do not know each other. They do not even talk about important things, like family, friendships, dreams, goals or love. No. They just “talk” about boring trivialitys things or how bad the date was.

And come on, it does not make sense to say that this couple “is fine”. HOW is it possible for Timber and Sci-Twi to try to impress themselves? Did they not take enough time “knowing each othe”? (What about the photos that Sci-Twi has in his room?).

It is meaningless. Timber does not even have his personality in the episode anymore. It is a shame that they could not respect the one thing that made Timber “different” (supposedly, because his personality is not the BIG thing).

Oh Did they turn Timber into a “sweet guy”? Flash is not exactly that? Where is the supposed great personality Timber’s that so “defended” some? I already knew that this would happen. If Timber will be going to be like that, why create it in the first place? Better would have thought about how to give a correct development to Flash. And do not go to deny this, because surely you have not seen the short film well. Any guy could have been in this appointment with Sci-Twi and there would have been no difference.

For that matter, Flash is better. He was shown from the start as someone kind, even brave to unmask a lie of his ex-girlfriend. He helps Princess Twilight and even behaves like a gentleman in ALL the movies (Rainbow Rocks does NOT count because he’s bewitched and in case NO ONE remembers, everyone in the school acted like idiots, not just Flash). Even in LoE he was very gentlemanly! HE decided to give Sci-Twi her space because she knew he was making her uncomfortable, is not that sweet? People, look at the implications, if they do it with background characters like Derpy, what’s the problem with Flash? Bah, Timber is even worse than Flash.

Timber has no moral in the movie. And in the episode it is only shown as “sweet and understanding”, but Timber is not like that. If he was not able to help his sister (his only family), why would he worry about Sci-Twi in something so banal as a bad date?

This is still a bad shipping.

It is an idealized romance, without depths or something interesting. They are both out of character when they are together and their chemistry is SO bland. Everything is giggles with them? At least with Princess Twilight and Flash did not get that far, that’s why it’s more tolerable. Here, literally, they tell us that they are “the one for the other”, “a very nice couple”, when they are not.

Let’s see, even Sci-Twi has doubts about how to tell her “date”. She called it “hang out.” So, are they officially be dated or not? And I do not mean canon, but in history. Are they real boyfriends or are they just flirting? Because otherwise, then they are flirting, going out together and everything without being real couple. Which makes me doubt even more of the morals of Timber and Sci-Twi.

I’ll admit, this short kinda made me tolerate Timberlight. It was cute (if a little cliched) and Timber didn’t run is freaking mouth, which was honestly my biggest problem with him. Still not a fan of it, but its definitely a step up from Legend of Everfree.

I’m not really against TimberTwi so much as I am against TimberTwi as it is written in series.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on this whole matter. As someone who’s never had an interest in shipping, I could care less about who gets paired up with who (barring the pony mane 6 of course); all I’m looking for is that whatever couple shows up on screen is written well for the sake of both the characters and the story.

@SeraphimDawn
Exactly. I’ll admit, the romantic aspect of this short wasn’t as engaging as it could have been, but I still believe this pairing can be salvaged, and I have faith that the writers can do so. All we need to do is just give it some more time. This is, after all, only the second instance we’ve seen this couple on screen.

@PonyPon
In all fairness to Flash, he was never the given the opportunity to do a whole lot.

Well his first line is him calling himself a “cool guy”, calls himself “charmingly when catching Twilight, he brags about his art skills and compares himself to Picasso (we see what is apparently his art in the credits and it’s no better than Ana amateur stick figure), and then says he was the one who saved everyone because he caught Twilight from a (minor) fall on the docks days ago. A character doesn’t look good when they brag about themselves and can’t back it up like Rainbow can.
