Especially with the global economy being as bad as it’s ever been since The Great Depression, and a probable jumpstarted ice age looming over our head.  
All of human society as we know it has existed after the most recent ice age a couple millennia ago, so we would probably be quite ill-prepared for one to come around now, and it’d probably take more than a decade or so to properly prepare.  
So, that’s gonna be fun.
