@Background Pony #3465
Not to mention we have an actual “Great Britain equivalent” in the form of Trottingham and the Griffish Isles, so it would be silly to suggest that all of Equestria is inspired by that.
Equestria encompasses lots of cultures, both ancient and current – Mesoamerican pyramids, Roman legions, Arabia and Egypt – but the modern-day version that we see regularly in the show is mostly North American. The ancient Equestrian past is more Old World by necessity, because the US is a fairly recent thing – but even then, Algonquian windigos, Aztec pyramids, and Louisiana creoles inspired a solid part of Equestria’s history.
Yeah. Too many American cities and architecture not to mention the American accents most of the characters have.
Plus we see the Statue of Liberty and the Wonderbolts who are based on the US NAVY Blue Angels
It’s not just names, they are pony versions of New York, Las Vegas, etc.
I think history out does names.
There may be some European elements to equestria but it’s pretty clearly based on the United States.
Actually, there are some American myths/legends/folklore/stories. Paul Bunyan, Sasquatch, Native American legends, among others.
Also, America has White Castle. :P
The culture of equestria is quite middle age in style, based on europe.
Canterlot is clearly Camelot, again sticking with its middle age style.
Got royals, castles and henges.
Last i checked the states didnt have castles, mythical legands, henges, etc.
I thought Mistmane’s and Somnambula are in Asia and Egypt equivalents?
Really? I thought those cities are in China !
Because Philadelphia, Manhattan, Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Hollywood, San Bernardino, Niagara Falls, and Baltimore are in England, right?
