I used this allegory on another thread: DHX is comparable to a basket of puppies with ADHD. X3
I’d be fine with that, if it weren’t for the fact that the leader of the seaponies in the upcoming movie is referred to as a queen, and she’s clearly a good guy. If she can why can’t Thorax? Seems like selective breaking of stereotypes for no apparent reason.
Edited
Ooh, maybe he is the king, but the show holds off on calling him that for that very reason; King Sombra, Queen Chrysalis, Nut King Call, et cetera. X3
It’s obvious he’s the ruler, the changelings have referred to him as such (‘you’re the ruler of the hive, Thorax, you need to do more than talk!’), it’s just not clear what his title is. It doesn’t really matter, but I am curious, since this show is quite efficient at breaking stereotypes, and the ‘kings/queens are evil and princes/princesses are good’ is a stereotype Disney kind of set a standard for long ago.
Also, much as I enjoy a good discussion on forms of government, I should point out that I was actually trying to make a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Well, Queen Chrysalis calls her hive “my kingdom” in To Where And Back Again, and both Celestia and Starlight refer to it as “the Changeling Kingdom”, so it maybe sounds like everyone just assumes Thorax is in charge and thus he “rules” by informal general consensus?

And so the show continues to not disclose whether Thorax is a prince or a king
…Dang, not even in the credits, huh.
