But I honestly think Twilight only had a down period during season 6, and this season she’s been much better. Season 5 was her strongest though.

I’m talking specifically about my personal preference among the protagonists, so I don’t see how you hold any authority there to determine what’s wrong or not.

I found the baby pretty cute, but nothing besides that really made me root for Twilight. She just proved she is a horrible babysitter.

Aside from proving herself a horrible caretaker, she really hasn’t done much to warrant any interest from me.

Fair enough. See, I judge an episode on what it did on its own, not if it had an impact on the series. It’s my favorite episode and nothing that did or didn’t come after will change that.  
Now, what about season 7? You like her in any episode this season?

I dislike them because she never took anything from them.
 
I like characters who grow, develop, and overcome. Twilight is simply not that kind of character anymore. I dislike Amending Fences because it just a painful reminder that the Twilight I once loved is gone forever.

So did you like it or not? I know she didn’t really take what she learned from it, but it was still a strong episode, especially with getting moondancer to come out of her shell.

Everything could have been solved if Twilight was socially smart like she’s supposed to be at this point, and it’s not like it actually changed anything about her, she still barely follows through with what she learned from Amending Fences (and don’t talk about Starlight, if anything Amending Fences should have been proof that Starlight was a total nutcase for letting something so common and so minor be the core reason why she became evil, along with citing Applebloom and Twist’s friendship breakup).

And I still don’t like her in season 7, because she pretty much became a bumbling social idiot who plays support character for Starlight.

The entirety of season 5 or towards the end? Season 6 I would agree but season 5 I’d argue was strong for her for the most part. And she’s really came back in season 7.
