Absurd.
Cue some rabid purist fans going around with a Eyedropper Tool and accusing artists of… something when finding exact match.

What’s nice about the Flash working session of the theme song and a few episodes is that we can get 100% accurate vector colors of the new characters for color references.
I’m sure fanart of him will be allowed on here, if the artist references this officially revealed screencap.
That would be Sandbar. Good luck find an artist.
I added her name to the tags.
A changeling.

So like an evolution of Starlight’s journey?
I’d actually appreciate that, even if the show would bold-facedly tell us the school is hot shit regardless.
Well, there’s no guarantee the writers will make the “friendship school” a success. It could turn out to be a disaster, and what friendship lessons the ponies learn, they learn IN SPITE of the formal school setting, not because of it. (Which would be a clever, albeit evil and mercenary, excuse to roll out a new playset for Season 9.)
My concern is that they will be exploring less and that ponies will be coming to them instead.
A pair of the elements in the list include “Fluttershy and new Student” and “Rainbow Dash and new student”, I guess this is starting to be a confirmation of it being a school. But i think they will teach friendship in a different way this time: history of friendship, and they will base their lesson not only on their experiences but even on the legends’ ones (which are the arc of the current season). Normally I’d be intrigued by all of this but…. you know…. Haber… and his “nerfing the Mane 6 on force to make Starlight bright” exploit….
I can’t speak for anyone else, but my issue is not so much with Twilight opening a school in general (which I agree would be a pretty obvious step for her, and something she’d probably be good at too) but with trying to teach friendship like a school subject. By the nature of the thing, friendship is obviously a very personal thing, and you can’t really “standardize” it – it’s always something that’s deeply affected by the personal history, preferences, nature and personality of the individual people and individual relationships in question. In my opinion, if you tried to make a standardized curse curriculum out of it (which you’d need to if you’re going to teach something in a school) you’d either have something so generalized or impersonal that it’d be no help to anyone or you’d have to make so many exceptions for every individual case that comes up that you might as well have not bothered to standardize at all.
It’s a pretty major part of MLP that it’s supposed to teach lessons to be used in real life, and I don’t think it could do this effectively if ends up adopting an abstract and frankly idealized view of how friendship works that doesn’t really work like it does in real life.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t teach people how to be better friends – you can. But you need to do it on a much more one-on-one basis, I think. Personal problems require personal solutions. Like I said in the rest of my comment, something along the lines of a counseling service would likely be much more effective in that regard.
Obviously I realize that this is all extremely hypothetical and we have nothing more than the picture of a building to go on, but I was responding to a possibility brought up in a comment. Now, if for instance this turns out to be like a more general school Twilight’s running and (let’s say) fostering friendship within and without is part of the overall mission, then that would genuinely sound like a wonderful development.
It’ll take some getting used to. First they’re spreading friendship, now they’re teaching it. What if they’re at the School of Friendship (my placeholder name for said school until we get the official name from Hasbro) teaching, when suddenly the Cutie Map calls them for a friendship mission. They can’t be in multiple places at once, especially since the last time Pinkie Pie tried, it didn’t work out very well.
It’s only now we are getting Twilight to fulfill that role.
Making Twilight an alicorn was considered to be a bad idea, but that hasn’t stopped it from happening.
It’s not difficult to believe, it just strikes me instantly as a bad idea.
OK, seriously, is the idea of Twilight having a school of some kind really that difficult for people to buy into? I mean, we know that her former mentor, Princess Celestia, has one for gifted unicorns. I’m almost surprised Twilight hasn’t opened one herself already.
she’ll be reformed soon
