When doesn’t Pinkie try to be close to someone? At worst, it would be like two childhood friends that were practically siblings becoming lovers.
Even if the episode Pinkie Apple Pie didn’t prove conclusively whether or not Pinkie and Applejack are related, it also showed how much Pinkie cared about the Apple family. I think she already considered them part of her family before there was any suggestion of a possible blood relation.
Or Marble Pie and Mac, which also had a OTPotW following for a while.
Even than, it’s so distant that it doesn’t even matter.
Oh come now, it only really matters if you shamelessly ship them. :V
