Who says this is a true crystal pony? It could be a regular pegasus affected in the same way as the mane 6.

And it’s temporary, not temporal.

Pomegranates :P

I guess crystal ponies living in the empire were exposed to the magic radiation more than a millennium have become connected to the crystals. The Mane 6, Shinning Armor, and Cadence only had brief exposure and they turned crystally temporarily.
