People are sitting there, likely not having seen an episode for a week, desperate for inspiration :P
While there’s a pretty decent flow of fanart.
Less competition for fanart too; If you release your fanfiction of a show-episode a day or two earlier, it might actually get you a noticeable amount of extra attention. If you wait a month with your fanart-inspired fanfiction, I don’t see it mattering much, so there’s less pressure.
Dude, I’ve seen artwork of some show stuff that’s like masterpiece level come out within HOURS of episodes or even previews of episodes being released. The first chapter of a fanfic is nothing, especially if the author is really inspired.
3 days is still pretty fast to go from ‘inspiring comic was posted’ to ‘a full chapter of a fanfic is finished and released’.
But yeah, I didn’t exactly think the author was lying about it, I just didn’t know about it till halfway through writing the comment.
Yeah, the original comic was made by a guy called Crydius on DeviantArt, and that one was uploaded on the 10th of July, 3 days before the fanfic was uploaded. So the comic came first.
Worth reading too, I feel.
I actually thought the inspiration was the other way around (the story was apparently released a day or two after this was uploaded; This was uploaded ‘15 days ago’ on the 27th of July, while the story was released on the 13th of July) but no, reading the story-description, it is the comic that came first.

Counterpoint, he’s named Normal Norman because he has a normal skintone AND a normal hair color (plus a reasonably realistic eye color but that’s less important).
Plenty of other student’s with plausibly normal skintones have unnatural hair colors like green or something.
Yeah, but they’re rare enough that one of the background students is nicknamed Normal Norman because he actually has a normal colored skin tone. (See Background Human’s current avatar.)
Does it? I mean it’s not like multicolored doesn’t include normal looking skintones like peach or medium brown…
Actually it’s a bit fridge brilliant if you think about it. In the CHS world, humans are multicolored, so having her with a normal skin tone enhances her status as an android.
