Of all odd things, I’ve been able to share my pony appreciation with my mother, who was in-the-know with the original g1 stuff. I didn’t intend to go see the film in theaters, however she is rater stoked to see it and is quite willing to do so with me, so apparently I’ll be seeing it in theaters.

What I really like is the transition of bright colors on dark backgrounds. Take my current avatar for example, it appears to glow in the dark and that is a very cool effect for the movie. I just might grow a spine and go see it!

I’m not saying the colors are bad. This is high-class colors we’re looking at, here. To me, this is a nice, comforting reminder of 80s fantasy movies like Ladyhawke or The Last Unicorn. You know, fantasy flicks that are more bright and cheerful as opposed to the dark and grizzly settings we see in more modern fantasy stories like Game of Thrones.

Let’s be real here; the trailer doesn’t look half bad. Granted, there’s some strong saturation in one or two spots, but the shadows aren’t as heavy as they were in the teaser. Maybe they’ll fix the saturation in time for the movie’s release.
