Well I already had a big discussion on it with someone else on another image, and I somewhat agree. Not so much that they make EQG canon, but Flash’s appearance supports the argument better than the Sirens appearance in a flashback does.
 
Long story short, without anyone acknowledging them as if they know who they are, it comes off as more of a nod and/or fanservice rather than flat out cementing the movies being canon. Being in the script labelled as the actual Dazzlings doesn’t automatically make it canon when their appearance isn’t even acknowledged, it’s just animated while the narration goes over something completely different. It’s like behind the scenes they just went “Well we have Starswirl, so why don’t we demonstrate the pillars saving people. That other series made a reasonable backstory for the Sirens, lets use them and animate that.”.  
But despite it being done to match the backstory, not acknowledging them the way they did makes it up for interpretation. You could literally throw any monster in that scene and nothing changes. If they wanted EQG to be canon, they could’ve easily done it multiple times through the episode/s rather than dancing around the subject as they did.
 
But whether it is or not is anyone’s opinion, and nothing changes whichever way it goes. So like when Flash appeared, ya think what ya like.

People just refused to accept it.  
The sirens outright showing up as blatantly as they did can’t be denied without going “B-but Flash cameo” which doesn’t work when he made it just as canon as they do.

Because a flash back that doesn’t even mention them by name or species shows them? That’s literally about as much impact as Flash’s appearances in S4.  
I’m not against them being Canon or anything, but through all that talk about portals between worlds and whatnot, pretty easily could’ve shown the mirror in the background, or said something about the human world or whatever.  
It’s a hell of a lot more like a nod than it is confirmation.

Why? Not like that small appearance flat out means EQG is canon. Meant about as much as Flash appearing briefly in the series.

I think this qualifies for the hilarious in hindsight tag.

Here’s hoping that changes in the future.

I see the EQG movies as canon, yet seperate from the main show. Both exist and are equally canon, but neither can influence the other.

i consider the whole MLP and EQG series to be like the first 2 seasons of digimon, both have made ref to there movies but it doesn’t come into play alot

I get enough of this canon s*** from the Dragonball fandom, I don’t need it from the bronies too!
