Seriously, was I the only one who thought of this song when I read the text?
Oh. Okay.
Never said it did, just wanted to add more Glimmer cuteness.
And that makes her the best thing ever, how?
Funny, and now for something more current.
but look how cute she be
I hardly ever visit the forums.
@Alexlayer
How-about you guys take this discussion to the Starlight Glimmer thread instead of an image’s comments.
Hey, I called it a minor thing. And it’s just how I felt at the time. Make of that what you will, but if you think I outright want to hate Starlight, well, that’s on you. I seriously wish I could like her, but I honest to god can’t, just like I can’t force myself to like something. It just doesn’t work that way. Like it or not, many of Starlight’s appearances have pissed me off and have seriously made me consider dropping the show. For that and more, I’m seriously glad that at least her most recent appearances have been far more enjoyable, and reason for which I pray this improvement remains so. I doubt she’ll ever be among my favorites, but I’m willing to try leaving all the bad stuff behind if the writing around her actually improves.
Dude, that’s not a fair way to interpret that. She showed concern, sympathy, and empathy towards her earlier and pretty much went out of her way to help her when she asked for it, so she wasn’t being completely dismissive of her plight, but more the idea of using time travel to fix everything. Plus it was more of an awkward acknowledgement considering Starlight was the first Pony she looked at when considering it.
The way you interpreted it makes it feel like you’re just looking for a reason to demonize her just for the sake of doing it.

That has none to do with it. It’s a minor thing, anyway, but if you wanna know, it’s this bit:
Zecora: Oh, no. I’m afraid I can’t fix it before the big shoot. But in time, the hair will grow back from the root. There’s no magical cure to hasten us through it, unless you went backward in time to undo it.
Rarity:
looks at Starlight with hope in her eyesStarlight Glimmer: Uh-uh. I think we can both say that’s not a good option.
And see, it’s not the decision itself, because come on, she’s right on that, it’s how she said it, as if actually proud that she finally learned that lesson (which last time I checked wasn’t a big feat inasmuch as common sense was concerned, but whatever ಠ_ಠ), all the while being completely dismissive of Rarity’s plight. If it had been something on the lines, “I’m really sorry, Rarity, but you know that wouldn’t be a good idea.”, then I would have been fine because hey, she’s showing sympathy and empathy towards a fellow pony, but nope! Seriously, as much as some people actually like to claim Starlight’s the new “Element of Empathy” (which feels like trying to steal away something assigned to Sunset Shimmer), they fail to realize that empathy is pretty much her weakest aspect. Heck, if anything, one of the reasons I liked Shadow Play is because, for a change, Starlight was actually showing concern for the well-being of a stranger, even if because said stranger indirectly reminded her of her former self, it was a nice contribution on her part. So like I said before, let’s hope this improvement remains somewhat consistent…

What could she have done? It’s not like she used magic on Rarity without her permission. Hell, she was pretty hesitant to use magic as the solution to begin with. It actually shows how far she’s come from simply using magic as a direct solution for everything.
It still feels a bit contrived how Starlight brought those two fillies at the castle when she hadn’t even previously met them.
And while Starlight getting called out in that episode was definitely a highlight of “To Change a Changeling”, the way she was presented wasn’t really helping her win me over.
And she was barely there in “It isn’t a mane thing about you”, I’m not gonna make a case for every single cameo she shows in. If anything, though, all I can say about her in that ep is that she had this one moment that particularly bugged me.
Here’s the thing though, it wasn’t just because, hell Twilight tried to be the voice of reason throughout the episode. Starlight simply acted as support and wasn’t treated as the only one who could make things better. Hell it was the exact opposite since the overall conflict wasn’t stopped by the end of the episode, she just simply gave them the satisfaction of knowing that some Ponies were able to see the true meaning behind their lessons.
She was called out for her actions however in the Changeling episode. So it wasn’t like she got off the hook.
Also let’s not forget about “it isn’t a mane thing about you”
Fame and Misfortune: Oh yeah, another episode where she’s made the voice of reason seemingly just cause. Good episode indeed!/sarcasm. In all seriousness, though, the writing isn’t even focused around her enough to claim much about it.
To Change a Changeling: Not really what I’d call good. Neutral at best. She still ended up making the situation worse, and while I’m glad she contributed in solving it, she lost my support the moment she acted entitled about it, suggesting her decision had been right all along.
An Uncommon Bond - Shadow Play: These two admittedly were good. Not perfect, but definitely above what I would have expected. Let us pray now that it stays that way next season, though.

We may when the writing around her quits being so awful.
LOVE HER!
Fluttershy out of character told two of her friends everything they do and dream is useless. or some calling her useless scared crybaby.
Pinkie In her out of character bad annoy silliness.
Rainbow Dash well early immature Rainbow Dash.
AppleJack seeming like a background pony at first.
Rarity seems to be the only I don’t recall seeing much hate for.
Twilight WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Oh, I forgot the Hearthwarming episode. I guess you could count that as Twilight teaching her. So, two for two.
There’s a few lines in “Celestial Advice” that really put things in perspective for me. When Twilight looks over the friendship lessons she could give Starlight, at one point, she says:
That’s the perfect representation of the whole situation with Starlight. Other characters become less so she can shine. Consider this: Twilight spent more episodes apologising for failing to teach Starlight than actually teaching her (Crystalling, No Second Prances vs Every Little Thing She does).

Awwww, thanks. ^^
