I prefer her as an orphan.  
But if they are going to give her parents. They better have an excuse why they weren’t there for Scoots and why she was abandoned.  
If they make their characters appear unsuitable for her, abusive, dysfunctional etc. It will be more believable.  
Better yet if Scootaloo rejects them despite being biological, for RD’s parents who are far more fit for being her parents.

Yeah pretty much. The writers like Big Jim he once tweeted that he’s going to let Scootaloo have parents they never intended to make her an orphan that was part of the fandoms idea. But I bet we will see them on screen soon and this debate can finally end.

So by that logic we can say the status of Applejack’s parents are in the same mess because they have not flat out said anything to confirm nor deny it, despite both cases getting a pretty strong cues in the show pointing towards being dead.

Then this is a two sided problem… She both did not confirm she has parents and she didn’t confirm if she’s an orphan, so the debate continues until we either see the parents on screen or see I dunno a head mistress of some orphanage?

All Scootaloo said here was that she’d love to have parents like Rainbow Dash’s. Problem is that first sentence doesn’t carry a solid connotation of her having parents, it just says if it were up to her she’d love to have parents like Dash’s - whether over her existing or not existing ones. It’s purposefully vague so it can be left to interpretation. The show took the safe route by neither confirming nor denying that she’s an orphan.
 
That said, this scene and this episode are making an effort to show Scootaloo bonding with Dash’s parents, after she’s already bonded with Dash as a sister. This scene is visually reminiscent of future adoption in everything but name, for me.

I can actually agree with them Traveling, it makes sense, it makes more sense as to why we never see them, but season 7 isn’t over yet so there is still a chance we could see them in an episode.

if anything, her parents might be traveling overseas for business or something. there has to be a valid reason her parents werent there for her at any point of this series.

I would love a near-final episode of this gen of MLP to be Scoots being adopted by Dash’s parents, closing the book on that. This episode set up that possibility to happen as well as playing off past Scootalove episodes (eg the camping episode, the name that slips my mind right now).

Technically Rainbow Dash Adopted Scootaloo to be her little sister, and with how well she got along with Rainbow’s parents. I can imagine the talk went like this:
 
RD: Hey, Mom, Dad, Scootaloo is my Adopted little sister.  
Parents: We have another daughter!  
RD: She needs all the support you gave me as a filly, and I’ll be there with you as her Big Sister.

This was super adorable and Cheerilee’s reaction to the whole thing was great. I loved her getting more and more desperate to get them to stop. XD

Scootaloo has made Dashes entire family hers now.
