It’s a random event. He might be a prize for a minigame challenge sometimes.
Still not sure why you keep relating this to same sex marriages?… They are quite literally nothing alike. And the whole situation with each thing don’t relate at all.
It still seems like you are attempting to troll or attempting to make this into a gay rights protest or something.
If this fairly well known money hungry company sees that even a few people are willing to blindly dump hundreds or even thousands of $‘s into this game, then they will completely ignore those that can’t or will not spend a cent on them. This is blatantly obvious if you have at all played the game for the past few years.
It doesn’t matter. It’s no more sane than anti same-sex marriage arguments: if a few people willingly marry the same sex partner, then everybody will want to marry same sex partner and humanity will stop to procreate.
Just going to interject that this is the only update I’ve thrown money at. x) I cannot be lumped into ‘$ for each new update’. I just wanted King Thorax and his drones, that’s it.
?
Attempted trolling is attempted… not successful. :3
If a grandmom had a penis, she would be a granddad instead. I deny your headcanon.
Again… wut?
If a few people are willing to blindly spend several hundred $ for each new update while the majority of the players can’t or won’t, then the game company will see this and cater to the spending habits of the few in order to make money. Thus completely hindering those that choose not to buy everything in the game.
So… Gameloft shovels out all of these ‘promotions’ and limited time events every week because they know the few will buy them up without thinking about it. Including all of the community events where those few that blindly spend money will completely shut out everyone who doesn’t spend money. Which is very obvious when you look at the leaderboards of those events.
Of course it doesn’t apply, just because your “it kinda affect everyone” is totally wrong.
Wut?
Not really sure what comparison you are going for there. But I’m fairly sure it doesn’t apply here.
It kinda affects everyone if some people are willing to date persons of the same sex blablabla.
Stop that, honestly. It’s not your money.
I’m definitely not arguing that this game isn’t cheap as all hell, the pricing is and always has been ridiculous. I just don’t mind splurging for a couple characters I really like, and don’t feel like I’m the bad guy here for enabling Gameloft, seeing as they would be doing this crap anyway.
That’s the only point I’ve been making. :)
That’s another problem thing too. The VIP system is blatantly money grabbing. Loads of people will never get those VIP only ponies because they don’t want to or can’t afford to dump loads of cash into this game.
There’s a line between a popular game being successful and simply making a game where you are nearly forced to pay to have any chance at their events, promotions, and the entire VIP system.
I don’t think it’s fair to point fingers at the occasional person like me who splurges, though. That’s my point. Yes, the app pushes boundaries on what they can get away with, but they’d be doing that, anyway. The app is still popular so of course they’re doing that. You just made it seem like that, if the occasional splurger didn’t splurge that’d somehow stop them from pushing boundaries as much over time, which isn’t true, even remotely.
I think it’s worth mentioning they have added numerous more rewards for in app purchases now. It’s not just gems, bits and characters anymore. The VIP system is limited but a great idea. Makes the game easier with each level.
The thing is though… I have been playing the game for several years now. It used to be reasonable updates that if you put in a bit of effort you could get the new pony after a short time. Now you are nearly forced to buy gems to get them because of the dramatically high requirements to gain the newer ones and the constant limited time events. They also added the bundles which are only able to be bought with irl cash. Most of them are $20-$40 each as well. Sometimes more.
They have also removed some of the older normal shop ponies and put them into events or balloon pop games so you have to basically gamble to get them now. All of that mixed with nearly every new pony that comes out anymore costing a minimum of 200+ gems to get.
Hearts are a useless resource and bits are only used for decor items now.
It’s only within the past 2 years that they started shoveling out all of these pay to win events and such.
Just a tad on the over-thought and paranoid side of thinking, to me. People for these companies have degrees in marketing, taught how to straddle the balance for what the majority is willing to put up with for continued play. Seeing as the majority can’t afford these kinds of splurges, we’re never going to become the expected demographic.
Unless every brony, or little girl with parents is in the upper middle class or higher, any trends you see aren’t going to be out of the norm for how they’d have planned to steadily develop, regardless of external factors.
It kinda affects everyone if some people are willing to dump a few hundred $ every time they release a new update. Before you know it, the entire game is going to be one never ending DLC. You will have to pay for every new update or play for well over a year or 2 to afford anything.
Oh well. :p Not your money, don’t let it bother you.
