If all that happens to be the case, it’s strange that she chooses to stay at an animal sanctuary. Unless it’s all just a ruse and she’s actually a homeless giraffe looking for a place to stay for free. But that’s just silly. Or is it?
Ms. Peachbottom from Games Ponies Play is a “wild mustang from Mustangia”. So it seems even wild ponies have intelligence.

They’re Arabian horses, I’d imagine. Is there a reason they shouldn’t be sentient? Ponies and horses belong to the same species.

The other option is that she doesn’t speak English… or horse, or whatever ponies talk in and the only place she could find was the vet.

FlummoxedFauna owes Fluttershy a favor.There were those mice that Twilight turned into horses in Best Night Ever to have then pull the carriage. Which could imply that there are wild horses in Equestria as well.

Maybe there are sentient giraffes, too although that might make things weird.
