Tomatoes are part of nightshade family. All plants from that family, including tomatoes, potatoes, tobacco, bell peppers and many others, have alkaloids in them. Alkaloids are extremely toxic to horses and dogs, because they affect their digestive and nervous systems, so… frankly said, tomatoes can cause a horse a very painful and miserable death.
