I couldn’t think of an obvious title for this, but it is referencing to the fact that Spike is Twilight’s last original friend, since the mane 6 passed away thousands of years before this picture.
 
So I was working on that project I talked about in my journal and a thought popped into my mind. “Y’know, everyone was so concerned about Twilight out living the other members of the mane six that no one stopped to consider the fact that she would also out live Spike.” Yeah he’s a dragon so his life span is exponentially greater than any of the ponies around him, but still; Twilight is basically immortal. While she won’t live forever in my lore of Alicorns, she still has an expected life span, in my opinion, of up-to 200,000 to 500,000 years. That’s a LOOONG time.
 
The fore-mentioned thought I had was so pronounced, that I actually wrote a short story to accompany this picture.
 
So not only did I draw something after a long absence, I also wrote something! Talk about shaking the dust off of my imagination muscles lol.
 
Also, if y’all are wondering why Spike’s not freaking HUGE like a fully adult dragon should be, you’ll just havta read the story.
 
I decided to do this picture in a different size than most pictures. I did this just to try something new. I guess if you want to use it as a background then sure… it is the right size for a 1080p monitor….
 
First time drawing Spike up close… and first time drawing an old person… sooo first time drawing old Spike? lol
 
If this picture seems rushed it is, sorry. I don’t get much time to dedicate to a drawing anymore so I’ve been trying to get it done as fast as I could. Hopefully I didn’t sacrifice to much detail.
