If this is real, then the email writer’s credit, movie adaptations do work best when someone unfamiliar with the source material can follow the movie just fine without needing prior knowledge. And even as someone familiar with the show, I wouldn’t enjoy the movie if the Mane Six besides Twilight had no role or development beyond simply being “Twilight’s friends who travel with her”. I think they put it best when they said the movie was more like an extended episode than a movie. And if the staff’s comment in 2015 that they’d make sure to avoid that is anything to say about it, I think they may have taken these criticisms to heart.
 
But seriously, turning MLP into those god-awful Smurf movies must never be spoken of again.

I think the only people worse than Sony when it comes to films is Illumination Entertainment…granted Sony has been doing it longer, but Minions alone are enough to contest the lack of quality most Sony movies have…

After seeing the teaser for the Emoji movie, I am starting to wonder if these guys have any connection to the outside world or if they just remain locked in some room underground with a dial up connection to the internet that cuts out every few hours. -_(\

Granted, nobody ever expects a tv/movie exec to get anything, but the amount of “I don’t get it” here is off the charts.
 
Though what takes the cake, is the implication that without using extremely detailed exposition, nobody would be interested. I mean Jackson’s LOTR trilogy wasn’t exactly heavy on exposition, but they still went on the become some of the most succesfull movies of all time.
