Because those people probably had their own cherished childhood toys and can sympathize. Plus aside from the doll being raggedy at this point, it’s design, especially when fully ponified, has an interesting, appealing thing going on with the two-tone striped hair and the heterochromia, plus a signature piece of clothing.
